In this episode, Bob and I take a trip to New Bedford, Massachusetts, which is a special place for me since it's where I grew up. We start our tour by visiting a seafood auction, where we meet Cassie, who runs the business. She shows us how they handle the scallops, which are some of the best in the world. We even get to cook with her and try a delicious pan-seared scallop dish.
Next, we visit the Whaling Museum, which has an incredible Azorean and Cape Verdean section. We got to see a half-sized replica of a boat and an art exhibit from one of the most premier artists out of the Azores. We also got to cook with our friend Jessica, who owns Tia Maria's Cafe, and make bacalhau à brás, which is my favorite dish.
Finally, we visited the Madeira Feast, which is the world's largest Portuguese festival. We got to talk with some of the people who organize it and even try some Madeira wine. We can't wait to come back next year for the feast and see all of our new friends.Visit Azorean Green Bean for the latest updates!
