Oscar Contenders Emerging Left & Right. ***This is a 1-Spoiler Episode*** For Captain Marvel during the Captive State Guess The Plot segment at 48 minutes, we let one slip. Be warned. What We’re Watching: AlsoMike - 1:50 (Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, Isn’t it Romantic, Vox Lux, The Dawn Wall + Free Solo, The Killing Fields, Emelie, The War for Late Night Mike1 - 14:04 (Jupiter Ascending, And a Sad, Sad Binge) Ask MMO: Death Becomes Her Remake - 20:15 MMO Asks: Best Film Year Since 2000 - 25:46 Box Office Update - 37:04 Luke Perry’s Death is the News of the Week - 43:23 Do You Care (About): This Week’s New Releases - 48:18 Triple Frontier - 51:11 Stan Lee’s Captain Marvel Cameo - 53:31 Crashing Being Cancelled - 54:09 Game of Thrones Is Coming - 55:23 Us’ Great SXSW Debut - 58:48 Trailer Thoughts: Midsommar - 1:01:42 The Beach Bum - 1:03:23 Long Shot - 1:05:51 Tolkien - 1:07:14 Words of Wisdom/Upcoming Goodies/Social Media - 1:09:53 The 2019/20 Awards Season is indeed taking shape with our survey of the Hollywood week that was and the Hollyweird week to come. We reviewed Best Animated Feature contender, How To Train Your Dragon 3, we covered the early buzz from SXSW over Jordan Peele’s Us, & we discuss the trailer for Ari Aster’s Mid Sommar. Could all 3 movies contend for nominations come February? Listen for our thoughts & more in this week’s Mike, Mike, and Oscar Weekly! What makes this such a fun episode though is that we also get plenty of YOUR thoughts. Our audience interaction is essentially a three parter. We were asked if Death Becomes Her deserves a remake, & this sparks a great convo. MMOasks another twitter question - what’s the best film year since 2000?, & you gave us a ton of great responses. Then we also incorporated a Guess The Plot from one of you for the upcoming movie, Captive State in our Do You Care segment. So thank you for all the great work this past week, and don’t forget last SixDegreesOfMMO challenge, Martin Scorsese to Awkwafina, which we’ll carry over until next Monday. What We’re Watching turned out to be a larger segment than usual, but you do get a ton of rapid fire movie, tv series, VOD, and even a book review in there. That audience interaction led to a ton of fun anecdotes & side conversations, and then we discuss all of the latest & greatest & unfortunately, saddest hollywood news stories from the past week, including of course, a filmography for the stellar & often underrated Luke Perry. We finish with some more news reactions & movie previews in DYC, & we review several of the latest movie trailers like The Beach Bum, Long Shot, & Tolkien in our final segment. It’s another loaded episode of MMOW to kick off you week. Do stay tuned as we’ll have our third 2019 OSP, this one for Apollo 11, & then we’ll get an earlier jump on previewing Us before we have another fun surprise for you. As you know, MMO never sleeps. As always, let us know what you think. We’re at MMandOscar on Twitter, and we are on Instagram, Facebook, Reddit, and Gmail. You can subscribe / rate / review / like / share / & listen to us on iTunes, Soundcloud, Stitcher, Google Play, Tune In, Spotify, and just about wherever you listen to podcasts. When reality sucks, keep watching movies with us. We’re Mike, Mike, & Oscar!
