Ever felt like your mental health was holding your business back? At 16, I was diagnosed with depression, and my journey through the tumultuous waters of mental health has significantly shaped my career as a solopreneur. My late teens and twenties were marked by the challenges of dealing with a manipulative 'friend', early motherhood, and more. This episode is a raw and honest reflection on how mental health impacts not just personal life but business productivity too.
Fast forward to the COVID-19 pandemic, where lockdown in March 2020 brought an unexpected relief from anxiety. Initially, the reduced social interactions allowed me to come off antidepressants and find comfort within my home. But as society began to reopen, new challenges emerged, leading to a noticeable decline in my mental well-being. Consulting with a nurse led to exploring options like HRT due to perimenopausal symptoms.
Prioritising mental health and self-care isn't always easy, especially when you're struggling. I discuss the choices I've made, such as prioritising health tests over luxuries like holidays, and how physical health is deeply interconnected with mental well-being. This episode underscores the importance of talking about mental health, seeking help when needed, and the value of a supportive community. I invite you to join a smaller, more intimate group where we can share personal moments and support each other on this journey. Thank you for listening, and I look forward to reconnecting with you next week.
