The Making of a Spiritual Diamond shows #3 and #4 - Cleaving The Diamond. This is the third show of the series comparing a natural stone's cutting process to the cutting process of Christian maturity. In the cutting process the gem cutter uses “cleaving” to cut a rough diamond down to a manageable size. The cutter must cleave the diamond along the side where it is the weakest. The cutter begins by examining the stone very carefully. He decides how it should be shaped to retain the utmost weight with the most brilliant effect. The spiritual diamond has a process that is similar to the cleaving process, which involves two steps. The first step is being placed on the potter’s wheel. You must go to God (Potter’s House). God is ultimately responsible for your spiritual growth. His role in your growth must always be central. He is the seasoned farmer who carefully prepares the soil and maintains the garden with the vision of seeing each seed grow into maturity. This doesn’t mean that you don’t have an assigned responsibility in your spiritual growth and maturity. The second step of Cleaving The Diamond: Sawing and Cutting. The cleaving process may involve a sawing process. When the cutter uses the sawing process it is done usually in the area of the diamond where there is no weakness. During the sawing step, the diamond is sawed in two parts and the cutter decides which parts of the diamond will become the table (the flat top of the stone with the greatest surface area) and the girdle (the outside rim of the diamond). For the spiritual diamond, the sawing process involves the Word of God being a two-edged sword in your life – discerning your thoughts and the intents of your heart. Learn how the Word of God impacts your spiritual growth & maturity.
