Ari Knazan and Jason Rebsch founded Invictus in an effort to educate police officers and departments on the importance of Jiu Jitsu for law enforcement personnel. Ari Knazan has over 30 years experience in the martial arts and is a 1st degree black belt under Keith Owen (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu) and a 5th degree Black Belt under Steve Hiscoe (Japanese Jiu Jitsu), both which Ari credits to saving his life on a number of occasions. In addition to being a proud member of his city’s police force, he also operates a full time Jiu Jitsu academy and several online businesses which all revolve around personal safety, combative training and tactical awareness. Ari also is the host of Torvus Podcast, which aims at exploring the lighter side of life and runs Chaos Tactica: watches and BJJ rings

Jason Rebsch Has 24 years combined police experience and is a Black Belt and Instructor under Brian Marvin of Renzo Gracie Houston. Currently is assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division of his Department and has previously served as Patrol Sergeant and SRT Team Leader among other positions. Jason is also responsible for teaching Patrol, Active Shooter and Defensive Tactics at his agency. Jason has trained Jiu Jitsu for nearly 12 years and has competed at all levels. Jason is also the creator of @BJJCop whose goal is to encourage Police Officers to begin training Jiu Jitsu by demonstrating the effectiveness of Jiu Jitsu in Law Enforcement.

In this episode Ari and Jason talk about:

  • Their choices to follow a career in Law Enforcement.

  • Their journey in to BJJ.

  • Real world examples of how BJJ is effective in Law Enforcement.

  • Why they created Invictus.

  • Recommendations and things to consider when trying to implement a BJJ training programme in your department.
