Have you ever wondered what a financial coach does and if they may be able to help you get your money right? If so, my conversation with Maggie Germano, financial coach, and host of the podcast Money Circle, is for you. Maggie talks to me about how she helps her clients set goals and reach their financial goals, as well as why she feels so strongly about financial empowerment for women.

About the Guest:

Maggie Germano is a feminist and financial coach for women. She helps women improve their relationship with money so they can take control of their financial future. She does this through one-on-one financial coaching, workshops, writing on her blog and Forbes column, and speaking engagements. She also founded Money Circle, which is a safe space for women to talk about money without feeling judged, and has recently become a podcast of the same name. Passionate about helping women earn more and closing the wage gap, Maggie was also trained as a salary negotiation facilitator by AAUW.

In 2018, Maggie received the Woman Empowerment Entrepreneur Award from the DC Women’s Business Center, and was a finalist for the Entrepreneurship for Good award from the Women’s Information Network. In 2019, Maggie received the Excellence in Finance award at the Perfect Entrepreneur Awards.

When she isn’t talking about money, you can find Maggie spending time with her husband and her corgi in Riverdale Park, Maryland.

About the Host:

Janice Scholl has spent her entire career talking about money and business. Through her time as a commercial banker, consultant and mentor to budding entrepreneurs, she helped clients create solid business and financial strategies to help propel their business to success. While working with aspiring female entrepreneurs, Janice noticed that the same four themes kept repeating:

  • Many women are uncomfortable with finance, both in their business and in their personal life.
  • Women want access to more women mentors and advisors.
  • Women often start businesses because they feel the corporate world doesn’t fit their lifestyle. Few are motivated by purely financial reasons.
  • Mothers didn’t want money to drive their family decisions.

From these themes, The Money, Career, & Motherhood Podcast was born. Now Janice spends her time helping mothers gain confidence and understanding about money, career, and business topics as they relate to motherhood and family – the way many women actually think about money. Janice loves helping mothers implement business and financial strategies within their families to help each family member thrive.
