I love that there are people in this world who see a need, and decide to create an organization to help fill in the gaps with those specific needs. My guest today, Josephine Bryan saw a need in her home country after a visit to care for her father. Little did she know that the visit to say goodbye to her dad would open her eyes to a huge need that turned into a non-profit that would offer assistance for the country she once called home.

Did she think she was too old to start an organization that made a difference? Was it too late? Was it scary to start something new? Listen to this week’s episode to hear how Josephine decided to start a non-profit in her 50s and what it took to get her there.

Questions we discussed:

-As a young woman living in the States without family, in a foreign country where everything is different, what was it like making friends? How did you get through the challenging moments of loneliness?

- As you would visit the Philippines, you would see a need that stirred a desire in you to do something impactful. COuld you share what led you to your organization?

-When you saw this need and wanted to do something about it, what were (if any) your hesitations for starting a non-profit?

-How did you know where to begin and how were you able to get the necessary funding to begin?

- You started this non-profit in your mid 50s. Did age ever play a factor as a fear or reason not to pursue Hunger Free Philippines?

-What is your dream for your non-profit?

-What would you say to the woman who has a desire to start a non-profit, but doesn’t have a way to get funds or even know how to start?
