On today's episode of Mother Daughter Connections®, I'm joined by friend, Tina Owen, as we discuss personal safety.

After spending time in the healthcare industry of pediatrics and outpatient skin cancer surgery as a Certified Medical Assistant, Tina was introduced to Damsel In Defense in 2014 and was drawn to its mission to equip, empower and educate women to protect themselves and their families in an unpredictable world.

Now, Tina is a Personal Safety Specialist with Damsel in Defense since 2017.

Along with Damsel In Defense, Tina supports local, national and international organizations that aid those affected by rape, domestic violence and human trafficking. She works tirelessly for this cause and has equipped and educated thousands of women to "Be Prepared, Not Scared."

Tina and her husband of 40 years have lived in Apex, NC since the summer of 2005. They have two adult children, a son (and daughter-in-law and 4 year old grandson) who live in Salisbury NC and a daughter who lives in Los Angeles.

Today, Tina and I discuss . . .

  1. What is the difference between Personal Safety and Self-Defense?
  2. The 3 Big Misconceptions women have about personal defense.
  3. How to instill & teach personal safety to your daughter.

…and a WHOLE LOT MORE!
