From the North Shore NEMBA Facebook group:

“What North Shore NEMBA is all about: The area north of Boston has a number of state parks and conservation properties that are terrific for mountain biking. We enjoy these trails by scheduling rides for different ability levels, organizing trail maintenance events, running mountain bike skills clinics, and enabling fellow bikers to find a wider biking community.

We are determined to make sure the trails are kept open for, and used responsibly by, all trail users. We take a broad view of what trail accessibility is all about, as shown by our chapter’s financial commitment to the ‘Vietnam’ land purchase. We regularly convene chapter meetings to share information and keep our priorities in focus.

When you join the North Shore chapter, you can stay in touch with everything that’s happening by joining our NEMBA email list. Our group’s email list and web site serve as the primary means of communication for the North Shore chapter. They allow members to discuss and collaborate on chapter activities – ride scheduling, trail maintenance, access issues and problems, or other matters of interest to the group.

Where we ride: Major state parks used by mountain bike riders in the North Shore area are Harold Parker, Bradley Palmer/Willowdale, and Georgetown/Rowley. Lynn Woods, Dogtown in Gloucester, and various other smaller properties are also popular with our members. Riders from the chapter area also work with the Greater Boston chapter to provide Bike Patrols in the Boston area, monitoring trail use (and abuse) and assisting anybody in need on the trails. Of course, we also take the opportunity to join in other NEMBA rides and events no matter where they take place.

What we do: North Shore NEMBA has a number of different programs in which members can get involved, including: -Trail maintenance events at Harold Parker, Bradley Palmer, Willowdale, and Georgetown/Rowley state parks. -Organized group rides. These are posted in “SingleTracks”, on our NorthShore email list, and/or on the NEMBA ride forum. -The season-ending bash called the “Wicked Ride of the East”. There is a great deal of logistical support needed to set up, run, and clean up after this charitable event which regularly draws 200 or so bikers to Harold Parker State Park. -Beginner’s clinics to help neophytes learn (and help some veterans brush up on) trail skills. This is a great way to meet fellow bikers and try new challenges.
