This conversation between Craig and Janne Laurila is about the connection between movement and change. Janne discusses how his perspective on movement shifted from a focus on improving physical abilities to a focus on adaptability and flexibility. He also discusses how movement can be used as a tool for dealing with change in life, and for personal growth and development.

The Connection Between Movement and Change

Movement and change are closely connected and can drive each other in different ways, according to Janne, a Finnish movement enthusiast. In the beginning of his movement journey, Janne was focused on improving his physical abilities and trying to keep up with others. He would train and push himself to do new and challenging movements, always striving to improve his skills.

However, as time went on, Janne's perspective on movement shifted. He started to focus less on improvement and more on adaptability and flexibility. He realized that it wasn't just about improving his physical abilities, but also about using movement to adapt to different challenges in his life. Whether it was dealing with an injury, a busy schedule, or a change in his environment, Janne found that movement was a powerful tool for dealing with change and finding new ways to move and explore.

Today, Janne sees movement as a crucial part of his personal growth and development. He uses it to help him adapt to new situations, to challenge himself and learn new skills, and to connect with others who share his love of movement. He believes that both movement and change are important for personal growth and development, and that they can be used together to help us adapt and thrive in a constantly changing world.

--- Hello, I'm Craig Constantine. 👋

In the Movers Mindset podcast, I talk with movement enthusiasts to learn who they are, what they do, and why they do it. I'm interested in the nature and philosophy of movement and in exploring themes like independence, self-direction, and human excellence. My interests color each conversation and provide some structure to Movers Mindset. But since I like to take the scenic route, every conversation ends up going somewhere unique.

The purpose of Movers Mindset is to create and share great conversations with movement enthusiasts. Each conversation feeds my insatiable curiosity, but I share them to turn on a light for someone else, to inspire them, or to give them their next question.

I appreciate your time and attention, and I don’t take it for granted.

--- Thank you!

My personal mission is creating better conversations to spread understanding and compassion. And Movers Mindset is one of the things I do in service of my mission. Drop by constantine.name for my weekly email, my other podcasts, writing and more.

The Movers Mindset project grew from conversations I started having as part of my personal journey rediscovering movement. The project started late in 2015, and it was initially simply a web site that shared others’ writing. The project grew, and in 2017 I started the podcast. I’ve worked extremely hard, but none of this would have been possible without so much help from so many people.

Thanks for listening!
