It took me WAY too long to get this guy on the pod.

Chris is, first and foremost, a great guy. I know that you see "15 bands" and think "wow, this guy must be completely insufferable if he's been kicked out of over a dozen groups." No no no, you have it all wrong...Chris STARTED most of those bands.

Seriously though, Chris is the kind of guy who makes you feel excited about making music. He's got a great attitude, he constantly gives to the local music scene, far more than he takes, and, most importantly, he makes KILLER music (haha puns). Beast Killer is an absolutely FEROCIOUS band, an unstoppable force tearing its way through the Ohio music scene. The duo really feels like the culmination of Chris's other works, the proverbial oasis at the end of a long and hard journey through the unforgiving, barren desert that is the music industry. Beast Killer is a triumph, and their new album "Dystopian Now Dystopian Me" could not be a better representation of Chris and Kris firing on all cylinders.

Though we mainly focused on Chris's path to reaching creative success via Beast Killer, we also talked about money in music, the importance of getting your live show out of your city, and the unexpected beauty of imperfections in recorded music. Chris also runs a recording studio and independent label @rubberlizardrecords.

Of course, if you are a regular listener, you know that I am only scratching the surface of the many topics that come up in my scatter-brained guest episodes. Most importantly... I hope you enjoy!

There may or may not be a Hot Takes follow-up episode....
