My Coach Meliss Personal Development Podcast – Episode #26

Hey guys! Last week I talked to you about taking a challenge and joining me on a core de force program. It’s called CORE DE FORCE and I challenged you guys to give me thirty days of your life with only sixty days left of the year. I challenged you to make a change in your life and get your health back on track, or to start your health journey for the very first time.

Some of you took me up on that offer and I want to say congratulations to you guys. I know we’ve each spoken personally and one-on-one a little bit, but I wanted to publicly congratulate you. I am excited to be a part of your journey and to see where this will take you. All I ask is that you commit to yourself and to this program for thirty days. I am so excited and honored that you chose me as your coach.

For those of you that did not take me up on that offer, that is ok, I actually closed the group yesterday for my Facebook community but I am leaving it open for today only to my podcasters. If you are tuning in anytime today on Tuesday then I will extend that offer and keep it open. If you have any questions and are interested in joining my challenge group, thirty days and fighting for it, fighting to get your life back. Thirty days, CORE DE FORCE! For every fitness level, please reach out to me and I will give you more details.

That brings me to a nice little segue to today’s topic which is making a change. Making a change is something very challenging to do most often because we are set in our ways, and the older we get the more set in our ways we are. Making a change requires us to stop what we are doing, analyze the situation, take a step back like an outsider, mix things up a little bit, change things up a little bit, and throw our routine off course. If it’s something to better ourselves our natural instinct is not to go with the flow. Our natural instinct is to stay stagnant and resist that change, making it really hard to make positive changes consistently.

That is the key to making a change, consistency. It takes only twenty-one days to make a new habit and to break an old habit. Twenty-one days, that’s all it takes to make a change. If you want to go to sleep earlier at night, if you want to cut out sodas or bread, or processed sugars out of your diet, maybe you want to commit to going for a walk, or starting a fitness program. Maybe you want to commit to your partner and trying to communicate better. Whatever change is going on in your life or a change that you anticipate needs to happen, it can really jar up our situation and we may find ourselves in a pool of doubt, uncertainty, discouragement, and fear.

I want to let you know that making a change is one of the best things that you can do. When I was little my mother sprung it on me that we were leaving this nice house that I grew up in, and I was very upset, I was very mad at her. She would walk around and say, “Meliss, change is good although it’s hard”. I remember her saying that and I remember being really upset with her for saying it. And still to this day when I heard it I feel as if I don’t like that statement. But I will tell you this, once you make the change your life is clearer and freer.

Maybe that’s committing to someone long term. Maybe that’s leaving a relationship that you know no longer suits you. Maybe that’s having a hard talk with a family member. Maybe that’s having a hard talk with a relative. Maybe that’s starting a workout program. Maybe that’s coming out to your friends and family. Whatever it may be, going through that change is very hard. It’s a challenge and depending on how you approach that challenge determines how you will feel and operate in your life for probably ten months out.

So, you can choose the negative way and mope around in the change. Or you can choose the positive way and look to the future for new possibilities and opportunities in your life that this change will bring you. Once you make that change you feel freer, more alive, you’ve learned more, you’re stronger, you’re more capable, you’re more experienced, you’re more knowledgeable, you are able to process future issues from a more clear perspective because you’ve already been through it and you’re able to help others.

I encourage you to take that leap of faith and make the change. When you do something better for yourself, you’re doing something better for everyone around you. Your kids, your spouse, your sister, your brother, your boss. Everybody around you will benefit from you following your heart and taking care of yourself.

Making a change and knowing when to make a change can sometimes be a challenge all on its own. When you are constantly questioning whether you are in the right place and doing the right thing, deep down in your gut you know that you desire more and that you deserve more. That is when you know to make the change, that is your instinct telling you that it’s time to move, it’s time to shift around. You can’t just stay in one space all the time. Your muscles will hurt, you’ll cramp up, you’ll start to outgrow the space. You need to be able to change and flow with life. Because life is forever changing.

So, if that means you have to let go of something, or repair something, or jump into a new opportunity, maybe a business venture, then do it. Do it with a clear mind and let go of the ideas that brought you to this place that are holding you back from making the change. It’s ok to let go of old ideas and ideals that you used to hold and they just don’t suit you anymore. As you grow, as you change, it’s ok to let go of things that you used to believe in and don’t anymore. Go with the flow and make the change.

I’d love to hear how you made a change, or if you’re considering a change, so join the conversation and post below this blog. And I’m excited to share with you the launch of my second book, it’s called, My Vision Journal it just launched. You can get it at www.mycoachmeliss.com/myvisionjournal and you can start aspiring to be whoever you want to be, creating those dreams, and making them into reality.
