In ancient times, I taught preschool. Those that know me might be thinking, "What parent in their right mind would leave their child with this whackadoodle?!", but I was really quite good at it. This probably stems from the fact that I never grew up myself. At any rate, we had song for every activity in the classroom because it's such a great way to condition children to do what you want them to do. Just like Pavlov's dogs. Hahahahaha! This song is new however. I have a long history with the phrase, "Bah Humbug!", culminating in a sign in my studio proclaiming just that. A friend mentioned the word humbug the other day in a conversation about words that start with "hum", and then I scored a child's button accordion at the local flea market the next day, which by the by, I cannot really play worth a hill of beans yet. So here we have come full circle. Good thing kids don't care about a steady tempo. Yikes! The End There’s a bug you might’ve seen Six long legs and bright green And if you ever see him out on your lawn He might ask you to hum along He’s really quite cute in his bow tie and suit Happily munching on all of the fruit But you’ll never get him to sing a song All he does his hum all the day long Now you might think I’m tellin’ a fib There’s never been a bug like this to live But I’ve seen him with my two eyes Hummin’ with all his might, what a surprise
