In this episode of the No Harm Health and Safety Podcast, Marvin returns to the Shuswap Lake System in British Columbia to talk to Pat Gau, Deputy Station Leader for the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue. The topic: Kids Don't Float! Kids Don't Float is the somewhat provocative name of a public safety program in BC that pretty much tells it like it is. And because kids don't actually float (neither do you), the dedicated volunteers at the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue started a program to provide loaner life jackets to boaters who don't have the right size personal floatation devices (PFDs) for children. The program has been an amazing success! We hope you will consider using this episode as inspiration for a safety moment within your organization, where you may want to talk about boating safety at one of your toolbox talks or staff meetings. You can paraphrase what you learn here, or simply play this episode during your meeting. No Harm is the health and safety podcast for HSE professionals.
