As our lives are lived more and more in virtual spaces, and among man-made structures, we find our experiences too often consisting far more of manufactured realities. Presented with photoshopped images as a matter of fact, and a media environment too often constructed to present a contrived aesthetic, our own lives, and those around us can fall inevitably short. But what is the effect of this unrealism on our culture as a whole? Why are we subjected to these images so often and so persistently?
In this episode we will explore the motivations of those who sculpt these experiences and depictions around us, and the consequences, both intentional and unintentional, that their machinations elicit among us.
