Earth, Air, Fire, and Water are among the most referenced touchstones of traditional philosophy writ large, and yet a comprehensive grasp of the idea behind their usage remains largely elusive. In this absence of understanding, the contemporary intellectual tends to seek refuge within the adamant position that the totality of such conceptions were naught but superstition and drivel. Peering resolutely down their noses at a thousand years of thought, they scoff at the very idea of even considering the subject.
In this episode, however, we explore the assumptions and misconceptions that may add to the confusion, and by so doing, seek to reframe the conversation so as to lend credence to the ideas of our forebears.
