Barbara Schmidt ist eine profilierte Rechtsexpertin und führende Kraft in der österreichischen Energiewirtschaft. Ihre berufliche Laufbahn begann 1997 im österreichischen Parlament, wo sie maßgeblich an der legistischen Umsetzung der Strommarktliberalisierung in Österreich beteiligt war. Später leitete sie die Schlichtungsstelle für Endkundenstreitigkeiten bei der E-Control Austria. Seit 2007 ist sie Generalsekretärin von Oesterreichs Energie und Geschäftsführerin der Oesterreichs Energie Akademie GmbH, wo sie sich für die Interessen der österreichischen E-Wirtschaft stark macht.
