Years ago, maybe even decades, the real estate industry and the professionals working within prided themselves on being the access point for valuable information like how long a home has been on the market and what it eventually sold for. Cut to 2018, and the vast majority of the information a Buyer or Seller could want about a real estate listing or the general market is available to them on-demand online. This is with one exception - Sold prices. That limitation is about to change with CREA’s Board of Directors voting to add sold and historical data to the property listings on Realtor.ca without the need for a login. Is this the end of REALTORS®? Not a chance.

This week on the Vancouver Island Real Estate Show, we speak with Halifax Nova Scotia REALTOR®, Peter Brouwer where sold data has been available to the public for years. And guess, what? His business has continued to grow in spite of the information available to his clients. However, we do recognize that there may be some shifts in best practices once this information is available nationwide and we will be asking Peter what he thinks those are so you can be on the leading edge in your business.
