Hustle culture and hyper-productivity have become so deeply ingrained in our culture that we’re facing a serious leisure deficit that is leading to negative consequences with regard to our psychological and physiological well-being. This week, episode 1 of the Our Halftime Show Podcast is about our favorite ‘F word,’ FUN!
In this episode of Our Halftime Show Podcast, our guest Mike Rucker shares how we can reverse the toxic hustle culture habits that are so deeply ingrained in us and actionable steps you can take right now to incorporate fun as a habit in your daily life.
Some of the talking points Lizzie, Meredith, and Mike go over in this episode include:

  • The importance of having a transition ritual that lets you mentally switch between the end of your workday and your personal time (& why we as Americans have a difficult time making this switch).
  • Scientific-backed reasons why fun is good for you.
  • Understanding that “fun” is not one size fits all and looks different for everybody.
  • How to start incorporating more fun into your life.

Contrary to what we as adults have been told, fun is not frivolous but necessary to our health and overall well-being.
