Episode 7: Weberman's (Unsuccessful) Appeals - Part Two
Manage episode 349063340 series 3400155
Nechemia Weberman is one of the most well-known sexual abusers in the history of the Orthodox Jewish community. His trial helped start ZA'AKAH and for many was the first time they were forced to contend with the reality and prevalence of sexual abuse in the Orthodox Jewish community. Following his conviction on 87 counts of sexual abuse for repeatedly sexually assaulting his 12 year old client, Weberman and his legal team began filing appeals.
In our last episode we covered the more technical aspects of his appeal. In this episodes we get into the alternate theories his appellate team presented to counter the facts and narrative of the case that resulted in his conviction. Many of these arguments were asinine, offensive, and deliberately ignorant, and we break them down and offer background and context on why they were so ridiculous.
This is the final episode in the Weberman series.
Banter ends at 14:26.
