Dr. John DeGarmo and his wife began foster parenting in 2008. They overcame the loss of their first child and adopted three children. In addition, they have fostered over 60 children. He is The Foster Care Institute Director, an author, TEDx speaker, and one who works with legislators across the nation. He is driven to help children in crisis and does so through speaking and media appearances. Dr. John and his wife are recipients of the Good Morning America Ultimate Hero Award, as well as the Up With People Everyday Hero Award. He is a leading expert and consultant in the foster care field, and a popular and in demand transformational speaker and trainer on many topics about the foster care system. Dr.John travels nationwide, delivering passionate, dynamic, energetic, and informative presentations. Dr. DeGarmo is the author of several books. He also writes for several publications and newsletters in the United States and overseas.
