I often go by the D-48 International Food Cart pod on SE Division and 48th. There’s great food (I highly recommend the D-48 burger that comes with a raspberry/ghost chili aioli), and in the evenings live music. It’s not your normal everyday average food cart pod. There’s a bar that faces the outside that you can walk up to, a fire-pit out front keeping happy revelers warm, and a heated indoor area where the live music happens. There’s nothing else like it in Portland, and that’s saying something. There’s an eclectic mix of local musicians playing different kinds of acoustic folk, bluegrass, etc, most nights, and other evening I had the privilege of being there when a young man named Allen Clayton performed. I had my handy dandy Zoom H1 digital audio recorder with me, and I asked him if I could record a few songs. Here’s one my favorite songs from his performance named “I Remember” (written by Nashville singer/songwriter Griffin House). I can’t say enough good things about my experiences at D-48, and I hope that everyone goes down to get a bite or to just hang out. And I can’t heap enough praise upon Allen. He is a supremely talented songwriter and musician, playing guitar, banjo, piano and harmonica, as well as having a fantastic voice. If you like what you hear, please check with D-48 ( D-48’s Facebook page ) to see when Allen Clayton might be playing again, or send him an e-mail at: bluesteeltacks@gmail.com https://pccradio.files.wordpress.com/2012/02/iremember.mp3 Download this!…
Brent My name is Brent Jacobs, and this is my fifth term at PCC. I was born in Greenville, Texas. My father served in the US Navy for 22-years, so I grew up as a “military brat” bouncing around the globe living in the Philippines twice for a total of six years and in Italy twice for a total of four years. I was fortunate enough to travel to 14 countries and to 42 states. I have worked as a chef, a corrections officer, a retail sales manager, and a general manager in the funeral business. I’ve been around the block, and feel that it’s made me capable of talking to practically anyone about almost anything. Everyone has a story, and an opinion, and I want to help them share these. Along the way I attended East Texas State University for a year and University of Alaska for a year. My goal is to obtain an Associate of Science degree at PCC, transfer to PSU and work towards a Masters degree. I plan on getting a Bachelors in the broadcasting program, and we’ll have to see about the Masters degree. Politically, I’m an Independent with Libertarian tendencies. I don’t adhere to the bi-polar partisanship or rhetoric that plagues our country. More and more people are starting to care more about issues than parties and ideologies, and those are the folks I want to talk to, and whose concerns I would like to discuss on this show. MY goal is to be informational, even entertaining, but hash out all sides. I believe that dialogue and communication is the most important tool we have, and we can do so respectfully, and coherently, while not pandering or engaging in punditry. The truth is out there, but it can be a painful process. I am really looking forward to sharing discussions with you, and I welcome your feedback! And if you’d like to be a part of the show or have your say, just let us know! Thanks for listening! https://pccradio.files.wordpress.com/2012/02/selfinterview1.mp3 Download this!…
Zoom H1 Check out my first podcast test! Recorded the track with my Zoom H1 digital audio recorder as a WAV file, added the background music and edited the clip in Audacity, and uploaded it as an mp3. https://pccradio.files.wordpress.com/2012/02/testcast1.mp3 Download this!
