Emily said she had a great pregnancy. She had sisters that had previously had children and her mom is a veteran nurse. She had the support family and that was a key element to her successful pregnancy.

Because she had heard a lot of the stories from her sisters and her mom she felt prepared for what was to come. She had the information and power she needed to walk into the labor room ready for whatever was to come her way.

Her sisters shared some good stories and bad stories. This allowed her to have realistic expectations of pregnancy. She was able to be prepared for the good and the bad. This is crucial for having a great pregnancy because things can go wrong. It is important to know your options!

Emily says that her birth went great. Nothing went wrong, but she still felt there were a few things she wishes she would have known going into it. One of the things that was not a good experience was one of the nurses caring for her. She began to tell Emily about SIDS stories and things that could go wrong with my new baby.

These were things I did not need to hear as a new mom and I had no information to combat the worry and anxiety she was putting inside of me. Emily realizes that the nurses know A LOT about pregnancy, labor, delivery, and babies, but the moms coming in do not. It is crucial that these nurses encourage and support these women, rather than scare them.

If you are going through pregnancy right now, or you are trying to raise a little newborn baby you need to know that it is ok to ask for help. It is ok to say that you need support, you need a break, or that you are becoming overwhelmed.

This is the true key to having a great pregnancy. Get the help and support you need!

We talked to Emily about how she prepared for her pregnancy to have a great pregnancy!

Emily immediately started off by taking prenatal vitamins 3 months before she became pregnant. This is extremely important to get off on the right foot with your pregnancy and can decrease MANY risks in your pregnancy.

On top of taking prenatal vitamins, Emily ate healthily, walked, and worked out all the way up to delivery day. These are crucial aspects to have a successful pregnancy. What we saw with Emily is that she approached pregnancy in a very holistic manner. She was not afraid to do what it took in all aspects of her life to have a healthy pregnancy.
