Load is the sixth studio album by our old mates Metallica. Released in 1996, this album marked a significant departure from the band's thrash roots, erring way into hard rock, alternative and blues rock territory.
With tracks like "Until It Sleeps", “Mama Said” & "Ronnie," Load showcases Metallica's new impetus of versatility and willingness to experiment with their sound ever so slightly. However, many have expressed disappointment and criticism & long-time fans of the band were taken aback by the departure from Metallica's traditional sound. After a five year wait since the behemoth of the previous self-titled ‘Black’ album, critics felt that the new effort lacked the intensity and aggression that defined Metallica's earlier work, leading to accusations of the band "selling out" or pandering to a more mainstream audience. We dive back in to give opinions nearly 30 years after being initially disappointed and try to work out if Load is great after all or a Load of sh*te. Oh yeah, we also discuss male grooming and d*ck pills. Do us a good turn and rate or review the Personal Jukebox on Spotify, iTunes and all of your podcast providers. Click that subscribe button too!
