The first film version of The Phantom Of The Opera is a silent film from the 1920's starring Mary Philbin and Lon Chaney.

This version worked with Leroux, but the ending wasn't received well by audiences.
Enter one of the earliest examples of the studio screwing with a film. Elle, Jon, & Vanessa explore how three directors changed the narrative compared to the book.
