The European slave trade in America begin around the year 1619. There are still forms of slavery and indentured servitude going on today. Today we will focus on the Native Americans and their involvement with the slave trade. Today, 167 countries still have some form of modern slavery, which affects an estimated 46 million people worldwide. Modern slavery can be difficult to detect and recognize in many cases. This is because slavery has moved underground in most countries and because the definition of slavery has expanded and evoled over the past several decades. China, the earth's most populous country, has the second highest number of slaves at more than 3.8 million.
