Ein Licht aus Bethlehem soll als Botschafter des Friedens durch die Länder reisen und die Geburt Jesu verkünden – das ist die Ursprungsidee für das Friedenslicht. Das Licht ist das weihnachtliche Symbol schlechthin. Immer an Heilig Abend wird es auch z.B. in Passau zur Abholung bereitgestellt – möglich machen das die Feuerwehren.
