In the first talk of our series looking at Paul’s letter to the church in Corinth, we introduce what life fully enriched by God looks like (it doesn’t look like money!). Despite a multitude of problems going on with the people of Corinth, including a rejection of Paul’s authority, he is still hugely thankful for them. God has done amazing things for them, and they have received His enrichment. Despite all our mixed motives, questionable decisions, and compromised behaviour, God always remains faithful. He it is who continually pours out his love, forgiveness and gifts on us, even despite ourselves. This is why Paul can remain so thankful and so confident. He redirects the Corinthians’ focus and ours in turn, off them - and off ourselves and back to the source of everything. This is the key to the Christian life - to fix our eyes again on Jesus. Receive in humility from and give back in generosity to our loving Father - the perfect example of selfless and abundant generosity.
