The Friendly Fan Club continues its quest to unearth the treasures of Peter Jackson's The Hobbit. The Desolation of Smaug famously found itself retrofitted into a 'middle chapter' when Warner Bros. decided mid-production to split the originally planned two films into a trilogy. Despite the change of gear behind the scenes, however, could it be that Part 2 ended up being the strongest instalment of the lot?
