TOPIC: The capacity to smile one instant and at the same time have suicidal thoughts -- reality of parents raising/caring for children/adults with autism. Families... Thank you for joining us one more time... Today's topic is beyond relevant -- We gather and share our realities, not to suffer together... but to seek support as one - regardless of the differences in our lives. Always remembering -- what unites is the fact our kids have special needs, some days are great and others are not... that is our life... I am not here to tell you what to do... But I've learned that only complaining about the not so great moments does not solve a thing.... so we'll share those moments where life may seem normal, we smile... and also, those that make us feel impotent and vanquished... Last week was suicide prevention week -- I raise my voice and remind every mother, father, caretaker to seek help if you feel helpless... We are here. Also, there are websites and phone numbers you could call: US: Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255. UK:http://www.suicide.org/hotlines/international/united-kingdom-suicide-hotlines.html Hotline: +44 (0) 8457 90 90 90 (UK - local rate) Hotline: +44 (0) 8457 90 91 92 (UK minicom) Hotline: 1850 60 90 90 (ROI - local rate) Hotline: 1850 60 90 91 (ROI minicom) Canada: http://suicideprevention.ca/need-help/ Australia: https://www.suicidepreventionaust.org/
