Let us understand The shocking risks of taking too many drugs If you're taking more than 10 medications, we call it hyperpolypharmacy. These medications are chemical and they may overload your liver, and kidney, and accumulate in your body, leading to complications. It is important to make sure you're given medication for the right reason in the minimal effective dose and stop it as soon as the condition is resolved. 60 percent of seniors are taking more than 5 medications, and 35 percent are taking more than 10 medications. If you are taking more than 10 medications, there is a 300 percent more chance of repeated hospitalization and admission to a nursing home.
