Hilde Mosse comes from one of the wealthiest families in Berlin and stands to inherit an enormous fortune. But she longs for something more meaningful than the luxurious lifestyle her family provides. So Hilde decides to pursue her dream of becoming a doctor. As the Nazis take power in Germany and the Mosse family is forced to flee, Dr. Hilde Mosse lands in New York having nearly lost everything.. She finds her calling treating the mental health of Black youth – and the symptoms of a racist system. In addition to photographs, school records, and correspondence spanning Hilde Mosse’s entire lifetime, the Mosse Family Collection in the LBI Archives includes the diaries she kept between 1928 and 1934, from the ages of 16-22. La jornada de “Ayudas a la movilidad para la discapacidad visual”, organizada por OK-Systems, Geko Navsat, El Real Patronato sobre Discapacidad y la Universidad Carlos III de Madrid A través del CESyA, tendrá lugar el 3 de Abril de 2014 en las instalaciones del Parque Científico de la Universidad Carlos III de Madrid en Leganés (Madrid). El objetivo de la jornada es propiciar un encuentro entre representantes de empresas, administraciones y organizaciones en el que presentar y debatir sobre necesidades y soluciones tecnológicas disponibles para ayudar a la navegación personal autónoma de personas con discapacidad visual, y recoger la visión y experiencia actual de las entidades que trabajan en este campo. Durante la jornada, se realizarán demostraciones de soluciones tecnologícas basadas en el uso de sonidos 3D, que han sido resultado de los proyectos de investigación ARGUS (co-financiado por la Comisión Europea) y ATAD (desarrollado en el marco de la UC3M y el Centro Español del Subtitulado y la Audiodescripción, del Real Patronato sobre Discapacidad). This second newsletter contains articles showing the progress during the first year of the ARGUS project. During the first six months, the main effort was made in the identification of requirements and design of the system architecture.
