First Responders Protect Us - Let's Help Them Heal This week we have Gary Stanley is the Senior VP and Medical Officer at Harvard MedTech. Gary gives his expertise and experience on ways to identify injuries or trauma first responders may be dealing with. The larger events are easy to identify however the smaller or day to day small traumas that add up overtime. A lot of the initial needs of the public during Covid 19 were on the first responders when hospitals and family members were unable to meet the needs of people. Identification may be tricky when treating first responders as a lot of people don’t feel comfortable self reporting. Supervisors, organizational hierarchy that has the detail or attention to ask their responders ‘How are you feeling today or how is the stress of this job weighing on you.’ Having a holistic perspective implemented or a wellness element added into the organization. There are also new solutions that bring help to the individual’s home via virtual check ins and consistency on a regular basis to ensure the first responder has access and can comfortable share with a counselor or professional on how they are doing.
