The sense of creeping dread grows as Conan prowls the streets of Khemi. We discuss some of the techniques Howard uses to sculpt that sense of dread, and the power of a writer who's fully immersed in the storyworld. Then we read Chapter 18, in which Conan follows the strange priests into the catacombs beneath an ancient pyramid. There he meets a gorgeous Stygian woman who, as he soon learns, was born 10,000 years before ... and she wants something from him. (MP3 audio reading from 'Hour of the Dragon,' by Robert E. Howard (1935). Reader: Finn J.D. John. Details: http://pulp-lit.com)
