Welcome to episode #85!

In this episode, Matt and Braden chat about why marriages need support in all seasons and all stages of life!

Support for Marriage (3 A's)
When there is the presence of addictions, abuse or adultery in a marriage, third party help is not just an option but is vital/essential to the survival of the relationship. These are areas that need the support of professionals, and often the ongoing presence of support till the issues are dealt with to the point that the marriage can continue. But it does take an active decision on the part of the couple to get help, it can't be one sided or forced. In the area of pornography, support groups are needed for both husband and wife as the addiction is in the marriage, and the marriage needs support to get the porn out and to heal from its effects.

Be Proactive!
A great marriage isn't something that just happens all on its own, it takes proactive decisions to learn and grow as a couple. We need to learn from others, to engage as a couple with good resources, and to make the choice to stay connected as a couple. Even if things are going great, we can't coast in our marriage and expect it to continue growing. We need support that is ongoing, and to be intentional in maintaining that support. That can be in having a mentor couple, attending marriage workshops or conferences, reading a book together, or engaging with a church community together.
