P2POT 3 - Conor Daly at Mid-Ohio

Ryan Kent Jr. catches up with American favorite, Conor Daly, at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

Daly experienced a difficult ending to the month of May. They put together a sponsor in Smithfield Foods for the Schmidt Perterson Motorsporsts number 43 Chevrolet. Daly reports that the car was interesting to drive and the entire month of was of interesting situations, hinting at the crashes we saw during that time. Conor Daly's Indianapolis 500 came to an abrupt end just moments before the fall of the green flag as his car caught fire and retired at the north end of the track.

"We were ready to race and obviously we didn't get that chance. It was pretty much a knife to the heart."

After a disappointing Indianapolis 500, Daly was able to fill in for Jame Hinchliffe in the Arrow Technoloies sponsored number 5 machine. Daly mentioned that this opportunity was enjoyable for him; he had alot of fun in the car. He was happy with his performance and he thinks that his time in the Schmidt Perterson Motorsports ride if proof that younger drivers can succeed given the chance. Daly earned a 19th and 6th place finish at the Belle Isle races, respectively.

"I really think we had a legit shot at both wins."

On Americans doing well in the sport, Daly thinks it's a good thing. He thinks it's what the sport needs to move forward. He also mentioned that he's love to be a part of that group, referencing the need for a full time ride next year.

When not in an Indy car, Daly has been keeping busy in other racing series. Performance Tech Motorsports' Brent O'Neill asked Daly to drive in this year's 12 Hours of Sebring as part of the Tudor United Sports Car Championship. Daly credited O'Neill as giving him his first ride of the year, several more following that. Though not seen on many Verison INDYCAR Series tracks this year, Daly has had a full season of racing.

When asked about the possibility of racing for Hass F1, Daly leaves the door wide open. No drivers have been announced yet. Daly could not offer any more insight as he is not sure who will get to drive for the new American Formula 1 team next year.
