Hi Invaders,
This episode, we’re going a little more personal than usual. Today Tim Yang is going to talk about his family. What it was like for his mom to immigrate to the United States, and how is dad migrated from North Dakota to Seattle and how they met.
Its a deeply personal story filled to the brim with some heartache and confusion. I’m not entirely sure what the lesson here is, frankly, except maybe to show everyone that an Asian Family isn’t always the safe family sitcom that you might imagine.
Then, as if things don’t get sad enough, we talk about Adam Crapser, a Korean-American man who was adopted in the States when he was three and now because his abusive adoptive parents never completed naturalization paperwork now faces deportation at age 40. He is retained by ICE in Tacoma while his wife and 3 kids hopefully await his release.
