“Each gate I passed, a dog ran out from the small garden within and launched itself toward me, never quite making it over the gate but hanging its head there, barking and growling, snarling and salivating. The first few times it happened I got a shock, but then I came to expect it, and began to wonder what was going on. I thought there must be a reason for the dogs’ reactions to me, and within no time it struck me, it must be because I was dead. I had died - strong acid, dangerous roads, strange park - and now I was walking around as a ghost only dogs could recognise…”
