Percy Wenrich

Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t not tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s.

Do you know who this fellow is? He’s Percy Wenrich, also known as “The Joplin Kid.” He’s been heard numerous times of the show before, but is getting his own birthday segment for the first time on this week’s show. The show will end with three of Wenrich’s compositions, sung by his wife, vaudeville star Dolly Connolly. In between, we’ll have yet another Rapidly Rotating Records vocabulary lesson, and hear some songs about posies. Recently I was gifted several 78s by fellow 78 collector Matias Bombal, and I’ll play three of those sides. There’s lots of great music and interesting information, so set aside an hour with your favorite beverage and prepare to be transported back to a different–and we think better–musical era. Click on the player above to listen streaming online and/or download for listening at your convenience.

THANK YOU FOR LISTENING!
ENJOY THE SHOW!
