Rose Blane Lyman

Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t not tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s.

Do you know who this lovely lady is? She’s vocalist Rose Blane. She’s been heard on the show just three times before and on this week’s show she’ll be heard Abe Lyman and His California Orchestra singing “I Wish I Had A Dime.” Fun fact: Rose Blane was Mrs. Abe Lyman. In addition to the “dime” segment, Jim Kelleher is getting his own segment for the first time. It’s now a birthday segment, because unfortunately, I couldn’t find his date of birth! No matter. There will be a segment about acheta domesticus grylladae (Crickets) and we’ll have another Rapidly Rotating Records vocabulary lesson. There’ll also be an unexpected segment. There’s lots of great music and interesting information, so set aside an hour with your favorite beverage and prepare to be transported back to a different–and we think better–musical era. Click on the player above to listen streaming online and/or download for listening at your convenience.

THANK YOU FOR LISTENING!
