With interest rates hovering around 7% and housing prices still soaring, does it make sense to be a homeowner? Or would it be wiser to rent, spend less money, and enjoy more lifestyle flexibility? And how will the lawsuits against NAR impact the cost of buying a home? Will they help bring prices down by reducing real estate agent fees?

These are hot topics for American home buyers and investors. In this episode, you’ll hear from a guest who’s made it his business to democratize real estate agent fees. He also believes that, in many cases, renting is a better financial option than buying. What you’ll hear in this interview is a lively discussion about how the lawsuits against the National Association of Realtors might impact home prices, housing inventory, and real estate agent compensation. The debate also heats up when we discuss the virtues of real estate investing versus stock market investing. If you know me, you know where I stand on that issue!

My guest, Jack Ryan, is the founder and CEO of REX Real Estate, which is a startup proptech brokerage that provides a digital alternative to the traditional real estate agent model. Jack has an impressive educational background with degrees from Dartmouth College, Harvard Business School, and Harvard Law School. He’s a former Goldman Sachs partner who transitioned into a high school teaching position on the South Side of Chicago before he founded REX. He now resides in Austin, Texas. You’ll find his book on Amazon: “Bringing Adam Smith into the American Home: A Case Against Home Ownership”.
