Something has survived! Welcome to Episode 20 of “Reel Chat” – a podcast that guarantees week in, week out – the “Reel world as we know it.”

On this episode of our “Vintage Vault” retrospective series, host Adam Stolfo is joined by co-host Brose Avard and regular guest Stuart Wilson to discuss Steven Spielberg’s much maligned sequel to “Jurassic Park” – 1997’s “The Lost World: Jurassic Park.

Adam unleashes the Raptor claws on this episode, obviously angry at the creative (or lack of) direction of the franchise, while Brose and Stuart attempt to salvage the positives in what can only be described as a let down sequel. Of course this is where “Reel Chat” shines, as debate on a flawed sequel is infinitely always more entertaining than round-the-board praise.

Here, the guys discuss what went right (2 key action scenes), what went wrong (and there’s a lot), the film’s DVD and Blu-Ray releases, John Williams’ interesting new direction for the score, the franchise’s successful merchandise tie-ins, as well as trying to make sense of why author Michael Crichton felt compelled to write his one and only sequel.

With the franchise’s latest entry (“Jurassic World“) coming out in June, there really is no better time to look back at the series in detail. “Jurassic Park” fans rejoice – we’ll be looking at the third film as well as the new film in the coming months… right here on “Reel Chat.”
