This Advent Podcast is intended for those who may feel a sense of heaviness during these dark days of December and who are looking for light and comfort during a time when it is hard to find a safe place to grieve. Pastor Paula shares a story of a dark December in her life, when her children's father was dying and she was in the process of watching a 20 year call to a parish fall apart, and how a song, "There's Still My Joy" and the hope behind it reminded her of who Emanuel is and how God being with us in the muck of life through the Incarnation gives us hope.
Opening; Scriptures-2:25; Song--"There's Still My Joy" 6:07; Message-9:30; Song-The Peace Carol 20:30; Community Connection-23:42; Closing-25:31
Scripture Texts-Isaiah 40:1-5, 25-31; Psalm 121, Mattl 11:28-30 New Revised Standard Version
Many Thanks to Pastor Dan McKnight, the opening announcer, Elizabeth Kieschnick who read the Scriptures, and Duncan Saum who sings "There's Still My Joy" and "The Peace Carol."
"O Come Emanuel " is in the public domain and "There's Still My Joy" by Melissa Manchester, Matt Rollings, and Beth Nielson, copyright Bug Music and The Peace Carol by Bob Beersm copyright BMG Songs are used with permission from OneLicense #715833
