Pastor Paula continues her sermon series on The Lord's Prayer with a focus on the section "Deliver Us From Evil." Too often people believe evil will be obvious--like a man in a red devil suit with horns. But in our society, evil is often more subtle---as it causes us to reduce our standards and begin to accept the unacceptable, rather than confronting it and taking a stand. By reflecting on what the lines are in our lives that can't be crossed and being encouraged to think globally and act locally to confront apathy and indifference, we are able to work with God as agents of change, trusting that God will indeed deliver us from all things that are not of God.
Opening; Scriptures-2:02; Message-4:20; Hymn "A Mighty Fortress is Our God" 19:19; Community Connection-22:16; Closing-28:04
Scripture Texts-1 John 4:1-7 and Galatians 6:7-10 New Revised Standard Version;
Many Thanks to Pastor Dan McKnight, the opening announcer, Elizabeth Kieschnick who read the Scriptures, and Ruth Skinner, who sings "A Mighty Fortress Is Our God" and the closing song, "You Shall Go Out with Joy."
"A Mighty Fortress Is Our God" by Martin Luther is in the public domain
