Welcome back to another episode of Reloscope: The Relationships Science Insights Podcast! This week, host Marie Stella is joined by relationships and marriage counselor Kerrie Lumbewe to understand what it takes to resolve relationship issues from the past.

Kerrie is a fully registered psychologist and a member of the Psychology Board of Australia. She is also a registered Medicare provider and an Associate Member of the Australian Psychological Society. Having completed a Postgraduate Diploma of Psychological Practice at the Australian College of Applied Psychology, she is now a Certified Gottman Method Couples Therapist and uses the Gottman Method in her therapeutic work with couples.

In this episode, Kerrie shares that reducing lingering stress from relationship history can make all the difference in a couple’s attitudes towards each other. For starters, she recommends reflecting on one’s ‘pain points’ or seemingly minute issues from the distant past that still affect them in the present.
