Episode 30

BLM - 5

The police has been the target of much social backlash recently. A lot of that backlash has come from the Black Lives Matter movement. Technology has made it quite easy to run into our own corners and just talk with folks who agree with our stances. Therefore, we at the Removing Barriers Podcast wanted to give the police a voice to share their side of the story, to share their heart on the matter.

In this episode of the Removing Barriers Podcast, we sat down with Officer CigarBro (obviously not his real name and his jurisdiction will remain unknown). We discussed why he became a police officer, the dangers of being a police officer, and general policing practices. We also discussed the procedures to follow if pulled over and how to respond and behave with law enforcement.

However, most of our time was spent discussing social justice and policing. We discussed the Breonna Taylor and Jacob Blake shootings, and we got Officer CigarBro’s professional opinion on the death of George Floyd and his gut feeling on the pending trials. We also discussed qualified immunity, whether there is a code or culture about police officers correcting each other in public, and the public push to defund/dismantle the police.

We concluded the episode with Officer CigarBro sharing his heart as a police officer and with a clear presentation of the gospel. The gospel is the only truth that can change the direction of our country, of the police, and of human hearts.

This episode is much longer than all other episodes thus far but it will be worth a listen.
