On this episode, the Retro Movie Geek crew is geeking out over The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957) and

  • the scope of the movie
  • the cast & director
  • stubbornness & pride
  • a big announcement
  • and much, much more!

Synopsis:

Critically acclaimed, The Bridge on the River Kwai contains plenty of high-powered excitement set against the background of World War II.

Captured by the Japanese, British soldiers and their ranking officer, Colonel Nicholson (Alec Guinness in an Oscar winning performance), are forced to construct a strategic railroad bridge. Despite cruel treatment by the brutal Colonel Saito (Sessue Hayakawa), Nicholson displays unyielding courage, and the bridge becomes a matter of obsessive British pride to him. Meanwhile, the British High Command has instructed a commando team (William Holden, Jack Hawkins and Geoffrey Horne) to destroy the vital span.

A monumental film with an unforgettably explosive climax!
