It has been said that there are only two eras in rock and roll: Before Jimi Hendrix and After Jimi Hendrix. From a troubled childhood to a music superstardom to a sad death in 1970, Jimi's legacy draws in all who become aware of it sooner or later. When Napster first came on the scene it was a revolutionary P2P application. It was used to widely distribute files in MP3 format. Then a number of musicians found their unreleased work being shared on Napster, including Dr. Dre and Metallica. Napster tried to navigate through the legal copyright waters but found that it simply couldn't. Let's peer back in time to look at a case that still reverberates nearly two decades later. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/paul-reverb/message…

In October of 1996, Marylin Manson would release a highly controversial and divisive album, Antichrist Superstar. It was loved by outsiders who didn't fit in with their Christian parents and reviled by political and religious authorities. It actively courted the work of Friedrich Nietzsche and flirted with fascism and social Darwinism. It was heavy on misanthropy and anger at society. In the 90s, you either loved this album or hated it and even some of the haters secretly loved it but stayed silent lest their peers raise an eyebrow. Let's go back in time to the opening shots of a nascent culture war. Plus I'll be playing a track from the forthcoming album Worst Case Scenario by The Paul Walker Experience. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/paul-reverb/message…

He's been called "the most spectacular degenerate in rock & roll history" and "the toughest rock star in the world”. His mission statement was to make rock music "dangerous" again.
