Hello, welcome to Episode 3 of REWIRED! This week I'm talking to Danielle A Scott-Haughton (Danielle DASH), writer, director and producer behind the multi-award winning web based series “Dear Jesus” and “The Alexis Show.” We discuss how her unconventional relationship with God and liberating herself from the burden of feeling unexperienced ultimately saved her life. Danielle also reveals how losing her job at fashion magazine, SUPER SUPER, and having to go and work at a family run takeaway shop (what she describes as a fall from grace) inspired her to create her first series “Dear Jesus.” Her ability to walk to the beat of her own drum and pick herself up after feeling dejected reminds us that our setbacks can become our setups! If you are looking for inspiration to kick-start your passions then this episode is for you. Enjoy! About Danielle: Danielle A Scott-Haughton is the creator, writer, director and producer of the multi-award winning web based drama series “Dear Jesus” and its spin-off “The Alexis Show.” Both series were produced by her production company WONDERLONDON FILMS. She has won several awards for her work including Best Short Feature at the Jamaica International Film Festival in 2013, and Favourite Web Series at the Screen Nation Digital Awards in 2015. Born to Jamaican parents in London, Danielle was educated at the University of Arts in London and graduated with a BA Honors degree in Broadcast. She then went on to work as a video director at fashion and lifestyle magazine SUPER SUPER where she produced videos for fashion and music brands such as Reebok, BoxFresh and English grime collective, Boy Better Know. In 2010 SUPER SUPER magazine folded forcing Danielle to work at her family’s Jamaican take-away. In 2011 she started WONDERLONDON FILMS and began building her own brand. Inspired by the success of Issa Rae’s "Awkward Black Girl" and British Web Series such as "Venus Vs Mars" and "Brothers with No Game" Danielle created and self funded “Dear Jesus,” which ran for 4 seasons. She is currently working in scripted comedy and drama development.
