Satoshi Iwataki, the beloved Attack on Titan, Ghost in the Shell and Berserk animator and animation director, has passed away. Satoshi Iwataki, the animation director behind Attack on Titan and Berserk, has died at 60. On Jan 2, 2024, a post from Iwataki's wife to X (formerly Twitter) revealed that the beloved animator had passed away. The post reads, "I'm Satoshi Iwataki's wife. After fighting illness for 2 months, my husband passed away the night of December 30th. Even on his deathbed, he never lost his composure and passed with consideration for those around him until the very end. I believe my husband, who loved animation, still wanted to create many more works. I thank everyone who cared for and supported him in life." She added in a second post, "Thank you for your understanding."
